  • About

The Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor fosters communal life through the spirit of tzedakah and tikkun olam. The Federations mandate is to initiate, to coordinate and to preserve activities, which strengthen Jewish life locally, in Israel and throughout the world. The Federation acts on this mandate by implementing the primary Jewish fundraising campaign in Washtenaw County, administering the Jewish Community Foundation and disbursing the funds from each for the good of the entire community. The Federation also convenes the entire Jewish community to address needs and issues that affect all of us and engages in community education and programming not undertaken by others. Finally, Federation is the primary connection between the Ann Arbor Jewish community and Israel.
    Interaction between Michigan and Israel:
The Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor is the funding conduit to the Jewish Agency for Israel, Joint Distribution Center and ORT for our local community through our overseas allocations as well as to several other agencies and programs in Israel. Federation sponsors Ann Arbor's sister community relationship with Moshav Nahalal as part of the Michigan Israel Partnership2Gether program anchored by the Detroit Federation.
Federation promotes and supports a relationship between Ann Arbor & Emek Medical Center in Afula, sponsors trips for teens & for adults to Israel & provides scholarship funds for those trips.Federation helps to promote business relationships between Israeli and Michigan companies through our support for and active involvement with the MIBB.
